Exploring The Domain Name Aftermarket

May 18, 2010

Over the preceding weeks I’ve been more or less in the tank, and have finally emerged with new direction. You may notice that the site has been completely redesigned and rebranded. (I was just having too many recurrent problems on the old platform, but anticipate smooth sailing from here on out.)

Additionally, I’ve just completed a 9-page white paper on the domain aftermarket which I’m pleased to be able to share with you. You may download the free report here:

Domain White Paper.

For those doing business on the web, I hope you will find this to be a helpful resource to evaluate some of the benefits of keyword domains as well as to familiarize you with the many available options for acquiring domain names on the secondary market.

To my fellow domain investors, I hope that you will find some of this information useful as well.  If you can use it as bullet points in your emails, sales calls, or presentations to end-users I welcome you to do so.  (The only thing I ask is that you not republish or copy the content to any website, except in full PDF format.)

The paper was initially conceived as an instrument for helping me to convey the value of domain names to clients, and was written to outline the major benefits to owning generic keyword domains.  I decided to expand the paper to be a more fully encompassing resource on the domain aftermarket, including a compilation of the many venues now available for buying domains.

Among many of the businesses I’ve dealt with in the past, as I note in the paper, I’ve found there is a general lack of both:

  1. knowledge of the impacts domains can have on the success of a business
  2. a knowledgeability on, or accessibility to, the domain aftermarket

This is a step towards getting more people exposed to the fact that there are other options besides newly hand-registering a domain at GoDaddy when beginning an online venture, and that these options are well placed.

I am planning to follow through with additional marketing materials over the weeks and months come, in an effort to provide further educational resources.

If you would like to receive notification when and as these become available you may either subscribe to receive business updates here or subscribe to receive domain investor updates here.

If you have any feedback regarding the new website, the white paper, or anything else please let me know.  Thanks..
