Web.com Partners With PayPal

October 4, 2012

It looks as though Web.com Group, Inc. has partnered with PayPal to promote their internet marketing service to the oodles of PayPal users.

Logging in to PayPal.com today I was greeted by the following prompt:

PayPal has enlisted the experts at Web.com — a leader in internet marketing — to help you grow your online business.

You are eligible for a free consultation with Web.com so that you can learn more about marketing your business online. Learn how you can get new customers by promoting your business on search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, through social media platforms like Facebook and in hundreds of other locations online.

As of 2010 I was told that half of all small businesses still did not have a website or online presence.  I’m not sure where that number stands today.

Depending on how much business Web.com is able to generate from PayPal customers, and how many of those leads make up the estimated ~ 50% of small businesses that could still be without a website, and presumably therefore without a domain, this may lead to a boost in new registrations at one or all of Web.com Group’s subsidiary domain registrars which include Network Solutions, Register.com, PowerYourName, and NameSecure.
